Poplar Head's Saunctuary Being Renovated

The congregation of Poplar Head UMC feels that it is faithfully answering its call to make disciples by expanding the sanctuary.  For decades the little sanctuary has been a worship home for 50-80 people at a time.  When the renovation is completed it will seat 150 comfortably.  With the ceiling being raised over half a foot, new sound equipment, carpet, pew fabric and custom made chancel rail the holy hall will not only be spacey, but beautiful as well.

New Sound Equipment and Instruments
Not only is the congregation adapting the look of its sanctuary, it is also enhancing its style of worship.  The keyboard and drums you see in the picture are played about one Sunday a month along with acoustic and electric guitars.  This addition has been a major attraction to the young adults and youth of the community.  With the elders remaining open to the change, some actually embracing it, the praise band's sanctuary time is sure to increase.

Progress on Sanctuary Continues
J.B. and Wayne Jones, brothers and members of Poplar Head, have recently designed and built  the new chancel rail.  The gothic design on the panels of the rail match the design of the Pulpit and altar.  The columns and frame in the background, also built by the Jones brothers, were designed by Rose Lee Burwell, a frequent attendee of worship at Poplar Head.  Check out the "before and after" chancel rail photos below.  Each new step of progress enhances the beauty of the sanctuary.  We can't wait to see the finished product.
